A chain of trafficking network linking West Bengal, Delhi and Haryana was busted with the rescue of a minor trafficked victim and arrest of accused. A minor girl from South Dinajpur district of West Bengal was rescued in a joint rescue operation of Delhi Police, West Bengal Police and Shakti Vahini, a national level voluntary organisation from her employers’ house in Delhi on 6th April, 2015.
The girl was produced before Child Welfare Committee, a bench of magistrate. The CWC has also directed the police to take action as per the law and expedite the process of recovering the wages of the victim which is approximately Rupees seven lakh.
The girl stated before the Child Welfare Committee, that she was being brought to Delhi by one Payel in April 2012 on the pretext of good life and respectable Job. The victim also mentioned that Payel handed her over to one St. Michael Placement Agency which placed her at the house from where she was being rescued. The victim further stated that she worked from 7am till 10:30pm daily and used to do all house hold works.
Sub Inspector Sandhya Moktan of West Bengal Police said, “The missing case was registered in 2012. Since then we have been searching the girl. Few months back another trafficked victim from the same area managed to escape and went back home. We contacted the victim and got some clues. On the basis of the clue we did further investigation and proceeded towards Delhi.”
The FIR no 667/12 dated 19.10.12 u/s 363/366A IPC was registered at Balughat Police Station, Dakshin Dinajpur.
While searching another victim of Human Trafficking the Balughat Police arrested one Beguma Bibi from Gurgaon jointly with Haryana Police and Shakti Vahini. West Bengal police received information that a lady named Beguma Bibi has allegedly trafficked one minor girl from South Dinajpur district of West Bengal. Following the clues, the West Bengal team conducted a raid at Gurgaon along with Gurgaon Police and Shakti Vahini from where the accused was arrested. On further investigation and interrogation Beguma confessed that she has sold the girl to one Rashpal and Chandana in Fatehbad. Accordingly a raid was conducted at Chandana’s residence in Fatehabad and at Rashpal’s residence in Sirsa. But unfortunately nor the accused, neither the victim girl was found.
“This is very unfortunate the victim could not be traced in spite of twenty eight hours continuous effort, but we will continue our efforts to trace the victim girl. We will put all our efforts to search the victim and send her back to family” said Mr. Rishi Kant of Shakti Vahini.
